Description

The Church of St Andrew in the Valley is of Baroque style and situated near Campo dei Fiori. It was completed by Maderno in 1650. It is an extravagant structure (the dome is the third highest dome in Rome) but not particularly attractive. The Church of St Andrew in the Valley was used as a backdrop for the first opera composed by Giacomo Puccini in the late nineteenth century "Tosca".
