Description

The MAXXI opened in 2010 in Rome’s Flaminio District and is one of two modern art galleries in Rome. The MAXXI was designed by Zaha Hadid and boasts spectacular and innovative shapes. Inside the Maxxi there are two separate museums: Maxxi art and Maxxi architecture. The former features all types of modern installations and multi-disciplinary pieces, by both Italian and foreign artists. The latter presents modern and contemporary architecture to the public through various mediums. Maxxi architecture is an international institution whose aim is to spread knowledge of contemporary architecture and its role in society. In addition to the two museums, the MAXXI also houses an auditorium, a library, a media centre, a cafeteria, a bar/restaurant, and galleries for temporary exhibitions and performances. The Maxxi website gives you the opportunity to learn about the various areas of the museum dedicated to important Italian and international artists, what's new, the collections, and get information on current and future events.
